With 2025 came a lot of dumping—snow, medical challenges, and anniversaries that carried the weight of reflection and emotion. So far, January has been a little extra.. It is a month that demanded resilience, adaptability, and grace, even when it felt like everything was piling up all at once.
But in the midst of it all came this snow, blanketing the world in quiet beauty, and with it, a moment to pause and appreciate the things I’ve had the privilege to create. Pictured here is a wrought iron railing I designed—a project that brought its own challenges but ultimately became a testament to creativity and problem-solving.

This railing was commissioned by clients who wanted more than just a functional staircase feature; they wanted something welcoming, artistic, and uniquely theirs. The design is minimal and playful, allowing the railing to be a centerpiece in its own right. The addition of an angel motif, each angel standing gracefully on either side of the stairwell, transforms the piece into a three-dimensional work of art that allows you to enter its space.
But, as with life, this project had its obstacles. The biggest challenge was the lead parapet, which couldn’t support the weight or allow for the usual methods of securing the ironwork. This required a creative solution: a series of elegantly designed outriggers that sweep upward, anchoring the railing without compromising its structure or the integrity of the parapet. These outriggers didn’t just solve a problem—they became an integral part of the design, enhancing its flow and adding to its character.
This project suits the start of 2025—a mix of challenges and beauty, requiring adaptability and ingenuity. Just like the railing, finding solutions that work while maintaining a sense of artistry and purpose is what makes the effort worthwhile.
As the snow melts and January turns into February, I’m reminded that challenges can transform into something meaningful when met with creativity and perseverance. And while the snow may cover the details for now, the railing—and the journey that brought it to life—stands strong beneath it, ready to shine again.
Here’s to finding grace in the challenges and beauty in the details.
