The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority is a self-supporting quasi-governmental entity that provides financing to make quality affordable housing and other related services available to low- and moderate-income New Mexicans. Using funding from housing bonds, tax credits and other federal and state agencies, MFA provides resources to build affordable rental communities, rehabilitate aging homes, supply down payment assistance and affordable mortgages, offer emergency shelter and administer rental assistance and subsidies. MFA partners with lenders, REALTORS, nonprofit organizations, local governments, tribal communities and developers throughout the state to make these programs and services available to all eligible New Mexicans.

Challenge:
The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (NMMFA) tasked our design team with creating an annual report that not only showcased the organization's financial performance but also effectively communicated its mission, accomplishments, and impact on the communities it serves. The challenge was to design a report that would resonate with diverse stakeholders, from policymakers and investors to homeowners and community partners.

Solution:
To meet the challenge, our team embarked on an extensive research phase, gaining deep insights into NMMFA's key initiatives, achievements, and the communities it serves. Drawing inspiration from the NMMFA Brand, we developed a design concept that balanced stability, authenticity and style.

The annual report's layout featured clean typography, modern graphics, and vibrant imagery showcasing the beauty of New Mexico. Each section was carefully structured to highlight NMMFA's core areas of focus, including affordable housing, community development, and economic impact. Infographics were used to illustrate key data points and financial performance, making complex information easily accessible and engaging for readers.

To enhance transparency and accountability, we included personal testimonials from homeowners and community leaders, providing real-life examples of NMMFA's positive impact on individuals and neighborhoods across the state. Additionally, we incorporated interactive elements in the digital version of the report, allowing stakeholders to explore data and stories in more depth.

Result:
The feedback for NMMFA's annual report was positive from the stakeholders, who praised its clarity, professionalism, and compelling design. Investors and policymakers gained valuable insights into NMMFA's financial health and strategic direction, while homeowners and community partners felt empowered by the stories of impact shared in the report.

The report played a key role in enhancing NMMFA's reputation as a trusted leader in affordable housing and community development. It strengthened relationships with stakeholders and helped attract new partnerships and investment opportunities. Most importantly, the report served as a powerful tool for advancing NMMFA's mission of creating affordable housing opportunities and fostering vibrant communities throughout New Mexico.
